Motivation Monday – NGS Home Study Course Update

June is here and I have four lessons left to complete on the NGS Home Study Course for CDs 1 and 2. They are Lesson 6 – Vital Records, Lesson 7 – Church and Cemetery Records, Lesson 10 – Local Land Records and Lesson 11 – Family Migration.

My plan is to complete lessons 6 and 7 in June. Two assignments, one from each lesson, can be accomplished in one area of Chicago. The first is IRAD at NEIU and the second is Bohemian National Cemetery across the street from IRAD. I have to visit Bohemian National Cemetery next week to do some client work and work for myself so might as well get both assignments done at the same time.

In July or August, depending on how things shake out, I plan to get into the Cook County Recorder’s Office to work on the local land records assignment. By the end of September I plan to have completed the family migration assignment.

Will I start CD 3? Yes but probably not right away. Things are changing very quickly around here and I may need to free up some time through early-2012. My goal is to still complete all three CDs by the end of 2012. Will some focused hard work I’m sure I can do it and earn my certificate.
