If you love bookstores, especially ones that carry old, used books then you should visit Prairie Archives when you attend FGS in Springfield in September.
I visited the store in April when I was in Springfield researching at the Illinois State Archives. The store is filled to the brim with books, magazines, maps and other items. There are nooks and crannies and small rooms everywhere you look. You will want to plan 30-60 minutes here at least if you plan to investigate more than just the history and genealogy sections. Stop by and browse around if you have time when you attend FGS2011.
Prairie Archives is located at 522 E. Adams, Springfield and can be reached at (217) 522-9742. The store is located on the same block as the Old Capitol building and there is a parking garage near by as well as short-term street meter parking.
