FGS2011 is here!

My morning began at 4:30 a.m. when I left the Chicago burbs to head to Springfield. I wanted to pull death certificates and thought the Archives might be crowded with FGS people today. I planned to arrive by 8:00 when they opened. They were not crowded. So…..

I’m sitting in Barnes and Noble near the mall in Springfield, IL. I just spent the last hour pulling death certificates at the Illinois State Archives. I thought I would be there a little longer but I was able to finish quickly. I met Carole McCarty, a volunteer from the Illinois State Genealogical Society while I was there also. So it has already been a great morning.

The rest of my day (at this point) will consist of mall shopping, lunch, checking into the hotel and then picking up my registration materials at FGS2011. I’ll attend a ProGen Study Group dinner and then a FamilySearch blogger reception after that.  Should be a fun time!

Stay tuned for more FGS news!

Disclosure: I am an Official FGS2011 Blogger.
