Things have certainly been busy at Generations. All of my books were launched and got great feedback at the National Genealogical Society conference in May. You can see the books and find table of contents for two books and a sample lesson on my products page.
I have been involved in a lot of interesting client work involving Italians in Chicago. At the end of these projects I will be writing family history books for the clients. What I’m enjoying the most with these clients is the historical aspect of the families. Researching the local and social history of Italians in Chicago, specifically southern Italians, between 1880 – today. This history is going to really bring the families to life. The more I read, the more I learn and of course, the more questions I have.
Recently I took on some DuPage County, IL, work. Much of what I do involves Cook County and Chicago, so this is a welcome change. I will be researching local and social history for these families also.
August 3-4, I will be speaking at the Family History Expo in Springfield, IL. I’m presenting three times:
- Friday, August 3, at 7:50 pm: Visualizing Your Genealogical Data
- Saturday, August 4 at 11:20 am: Finishing The Story
- Saturday, August 4 at 2:30 pm: Branching Out: Teaching a Youth Workshop
If you attend the Family History Expo please find me and say hello. I will have copies of my books to show if you haven’t seen them yet.
For more information about where I’m speaking, you can see my Events page.
That’s what’s been happening at Generations the last few months. Hope to see you in Springfield in two weeks!
