Arrived at FGS today in Ft. Wayne, IN. Met several people at registration I had not seen since the last national conference. This evening several of us attended FamilySearch‘s Blogger Dinner. During dinner, Paul Nauta, spoke about new things coming online and new things at the Family History Library and Family History Centers over the next year. One big thing coming is the opening of several Family History Discover Centers around the world.
These Discovery Centers will contain interactive areas for all ages from kids to adults. There will be resources and the ability to research family history and support for researchers of all levels. No places have been released yet as to where these Centers will be, so we wait (patiently.)
Do you index? FamilySearch is always adding new images online and they need help indexing! If you would like to know more about indexing, check out this great video. I will be setting up indexing parties and getting information out for those interested in indexing with Casa Italia in Stone Park. We are partnered with FamilySearch to help index the Italian Records.
FamilySearch is rolling out new online and mobile apps and partnering with different genealogy vendors and record keepers like RootsMagic, Leaf, Ancestry.com, and FindMyPast.
Visit FamilySearch’s website for the latest details on everything.
I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings with the first full day of the conference! Should be great! Stay tuned!
