Military Memories Blog Post: May 30 – After The War

May 30: After The War.  How did the WWII era affect your family from then until now? Did someone lose a spouse and remarry? Were there blended families? Did the patriotism and desire to join the military become instilled in every generation that followed? #militarymemories

After the war, for reasons unknown to me at this time, all the sons of my grandpa Joseph Holik, joined the military for a short period of time. The man that stayed in for a length of time was my father, who after active duty served in the Naval Reserves most of his life. Perhaps these men felt a duty to country or a duty to prevent future wars which took away their father. This is something I need to investigate.
